Sometimes you just can’t summon the effort to wash your face. Sure, it’s kind of gross. Sure, it’s lazy. But we’re working women. We’re busy! And, more likely than not, we've got a bit of concealer or a few swipes of mascara on our lovely faces that need removing, lest everything end up on our pillows. So, what’s a girl to do? According to the likes of Sarah Rutson and Garance Doré (and ITG's own Elizabeth), the one-stop, water-free washing solution is a Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette.

Perfect for even those of us with sensitive skin, the wipes are super-soft, don't smell, and don't leave any sort of vision-clouding residue. They're also alcohol-free, and the best part is the price tag: $7.99. OK, they're not the hot new thing on the scene, but they work. And you're effing tired...so what are you waiting for?

For fifteen extra seconds I can do a spritz of mineral water (thanks Isabelle Bellis!) and apply a micellar water with a cotton pad.

I use face wipes almost every single night (with exceptions) and have never had an issue. Seriously, best invention ever.

They're not bad (and you can get a box of four large packets plus two small travel packs for $15 at Costco) but they do NOT get your face truly clean. You've only got to look at all the leftover makeup that comes off on the brush of your Clarisonic (or washcloth) the next morning to realize that. It's kind of disgusting, really.

I love those! Need to go out and purchase a new pack- I hate having to wash my face every. single. night. I'm a tired woman, folks!

I usually use the generic brand of these from Target, but accidentally bought the Neutrogena kind and it's made my face break out! Such a bummer, the real kind smells SO much better.

These were a daily essential of mine for years. In the end though I found they left too much of an oily residue on my face and like someone else mentioned, they aren't the best at getting everything off. Now I use a tiny bit of Bioderma cleansing milk on a cotton square, works wonders.

What does everyone think of using these or something similar to clean off makeup brushes?? Because I do clean my brushes every couple weeks/when I remember but it's not always top priority. Will it leave a filmy residue?

    • Shaina

Yeah, a wipe will leave a gross soapy residue eventually. Get a spray brush cleaner- takes out all the germs, pigment, and product so your brush is squeaky clean and ready to go. My favorite is Bobbi Brown Spray Brush Cleaner, it is the best I've found for removing pigment/sanitizing and smells AMAZING, thanks to eucalyptus oil. I used Brush Off for years but the alcohol smell invades your lungs and dries out natural-hair bristles eventually. Not fun. Pro tip, the Sephora brand spray is worthless, don't waste your money.

You still need to deep clean your brushes every once in a while, to get all the gunk out. Ideally, once a week or so, but if you buy that spray brush cleaner you can get away with going longer between deep cleansing. If you don't use a brush spray, bacteria will build up in your brush and can even make your skin break out. Needless to say, makeup doesn't blend as well on a dirty brush, so do yourself a favor and grab a bottle! Just spray it onto TP, paper towel, tissue, whatever, and run it over the tissue til all the pigment is gone (you might need to do it a few times.) Cheers!

I've been using these for years and they're always a standby!

These are great! Don't make a habit of using it as a substitute for washing your face with an actual facial wash, but if you are too lazy or too tired this is a superb product. I keep one on my nightstand for those days when I just can't be bothered. I always wash my face in the morning though. I've tried other brands but they've irritated my eyes, at least these are gentle enough that I haven't had any trouble.

Imma let you finish but Simple wipes are the best cleansing wipes of all time! Also Yes to Cucumbers are great.

      Hahaha yeah!

    Hi Facial411,

Neutrogena advertises the product as alcohol free on the packaging. And you're right, they are not technically fragrance free; however, they do not have a very imposing scent. Post updated!

    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

I don't know if this is because of my skin type but after I use these I kinda feel like my face gets extra oily :/
