Not to age ourselves, but it’s been 15 years since we were first introduced to Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte (and—could it be?—NINE since Sex and the City left airways). In lay(wo)man’s terms, that translates to plenty of time to identify yourself as one of the four ladies who brunch.

While the three ancillary characters have so many beaming qualities (career drive, sex drive, manners), we're guessing that you align yourself with the singular Ms. Bradshaw. Wouldn’t we all prefer to be the protagonist, the omniscient narrator of our friends’ lives, the risk taker, and, clearly, the most stylish (ed note: even now, as we type this hypothetical question into a mac laptop and gaze out a window overlooking Manhattan, we're have trouble not picturing ourselves wearing a Carrie gold necklace)? Not that each of the girls didn’t always look impeccable, no matter how disheveled—for this we can thank legendary costume designer Patricia Field—but Carrie really wore it best, even if it was just denim overalls in Suffren mud [38].

Perhaps it was Sarah Jessica Parker’s impressively-put-together-while-still-chicly-unkempt hair (the wild mane with which we began season one [43], the brand new cut for Vogue in season four [4], the obvious roots at the court house in early season six [22], the perfect curls for the Paris finale [1], etc.), or her habit of high kitsch ensembles [26], or even her affinity for Prada and Manolo, but it was SJP as Carrie Bradshaw that had everyone redesigning their wardrobe (cut to the oversized-flower pin trend of 2000). Most lack the moxie to venture outside a ballet class in a tutu [39], but not Carrie. Hot pants, a knit tube top, an overcoat, and heels [57]? Fuhgeddaboudit. And as much as we might internally identify as an uptight uptown girl, a sex-crazed powerhouse, or a strong-willed, independent woman, Carrie was all of these women depending on the heel height (or the episode). Go Big or go home, right?

To commemorate this very special avenersary, check out our refresher on 74 of Carrie’s most awesome fashion moments.

    Can't believe it's already 15 years! ;-) just great!

  • ladydah

    The movies were awful.

  • MIKKA

Great show - watch it and rewatch and love each and everytime more and more. But it's just a show so I don't take it as a "must live by these rules" sort of a thing... reality is more fun anyway.

  • Anna

rare and great photos, guys! Thanks

Carrie basically wears whatever the fuck she wants and that is awesome <3

  • jackie

I love this post! Looking through the pictures, I love how she looks when she is natural and cute ... and those curls! I wish I could watch this with my 17 year old daughter ... but not yet!!

  • hollygoeslightly22

Love the Carrie Bradshaw character. She's so imperfectly-perfect.

  • Lana

Carrie Bradshaw forever! This show has been and will always be truly something fabulous!

My favorite quote from this show is, "if your friends won't go down on you, who will??" - Miranda

    She's the man repeller.

Leandra Medine is the healthy and literary version of Carrie. Ha.

  • JParii

    I miss Samantha!

  • Sharon Macklin

I miss this show so much! Of course, it's still on, so I watch when I can. I also have the whole thing on DVD, but that never gets used. Nice to know I have it though...

  • Ona_in_Barcelona

GOD, she has such a great figure. Tiny! Curvy! Muscly! All of it, all at once!

  • Barbara_Barbsye

SATC 4 ever! Just makes me think of Girls: after claiming "ooh, we're not at all "SATC-only- clothes and images", we're new!" assuming that SATC was "fake" and old bread, i'm seeing now some interesting photos with all the Girls actresses quite dressed up and accessoried, posing for fashion shootings...

.....But you're not going to become icons, ladies.

  • Anna @ thelondonscrapbook.com

OH MY GOD I MISS IT! Thanks for sharing this x

  • mermaidsdream

SJP is probably the only person who can make an exposed bra look not trashy.

  • Suly Daniela Gomez

Carrie was an awful friend though! I remember when Samantha told her that she had cancer, Carrie found a way to make it about her! Or when she bumped into Aidan and he had a baby, she said, "You have a baby! I have a date!" The more you watch her, the less likable she becomes.

    • CbSiamese

And (sould I say spoilers ?) Charlotte told Samantha that her vagina should be in the Zagat or something, Samantha threw Miranda and Brady in a cab to go shopping quietly, Miranda told Big not to get married...Come on, they were all flawed, and great, and that's why we loved them.

And they deserved better than the movies they got, even though they had some pretty great quotes in them.

And the fashion...still inspires me everyday to wear whatever the hell I want to.

    • equestrienne

I totally agree! Love SJP and Ms. Bradshaw's style, but Carrie was a total A-hole and awful girlfriend.

  • dunzoo

I miss her sooo much!! that Versace millefeuille dress was truly fashiongasmic

  • Neo Lulu

Ooh, sweet memories. I love this show! Thanks for putting this together, very inspiring :)

That's seriously fabulous - what a great reminder. You've captured most of Carrie's signature looks. Remember the pink fluoro dress she wore to lunch with Big when he tells her he's getting married? She trips over a chair in her haste to leave. Sad moment but j'adore the dress.

  • AVL.

Always with the black bra. Love it.

  • Ashley

oh gosh this just made me so happy; wait here while i go pull out my entire SATC dvd collection and watch it from beginning to end... for the 11th time in my life.
