Monday afternoon, a certain celebu-tot was photographed with seriously shorter locks. World, listen up: Little Miss Suri Cruise has bangs, and not just any ol' bangs, but a set of micro "fringe" (as the Brits would say). Though hers appear to be courtesy of her own hand and Katie can't be super pleased about it, she is not far off-trend—obviously (!!!). Just last September, Annabelle Dexter-Jones stopped by the Gloffice rocking some tiny bangs, courtesy of Ashley Javier. And, of course, there were Amélie, Audrey, and others before her... Anyway, take a look at some stylish ladies—young and old, of days past and present—who've sported the forehead-baring style.

Anyone inspired to make like Suri and D.I.Y.?

wish I had a copy of my old driver's license pic -- would have been early "aughts" and I had some neon red baby-bangs (they photographed like a seeping head wound, but looked pretty badass --at the time -- in person).

Definitely a strong look and one I could not pull off. Oh well, I can live vicariously through Rooney Mara. Think she wears it the best! xo

I think Suri's bangs look exactly like what they are: a child's misguided attempt at hair dressing. I remember my own Edward Scissorhands moment when I was just about her age. Growing it out was it's own punishment. I don't think this is a good look for anyone.

That's most likely, or maybe someone put gum in her hair at school and they had to cut it off.

You are channeling my brain here - have been thinking of microbangs lately, especially that photo of Annabelle D-J. I love that look. At the present time, I have not had bangs for many, many years and now wonder if I would look somehow silly with the tiny ones....

hm, not entirely sure how I feel about those bangs. They look just a little too choppy for my taste I think!

This post just reminded me how much I dislike Shannyn Sossamon. She named her kids Audio Science and Mortimer. Who does that to their children?

My favorite kind of bangs! I used to have some myself and they were awesome.

Juliette Binoche (aka La Binoche) cut her own micro bangs for films such The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Blue.

Ha...no thanks! They always look like a bad mistake...or they give me the flashbacks to, like, 1995...and that was not a graceful time for 12 year old me. :-)

You forgot Ally McBeal and her tiny bang !

  • srnhrrs

    No Grimes?

    • amelia

hers are some of the best mini- bangs around, for sure

I love that Yo-Landi made an appearance. I can only image what her top shelf would be...

There something missing, long wavy hair, with short bangs looks divine. Can't think of an example.

you must have a large forehead though! my short fore-headed existence is no joke

Love it but could never pull it off (or be bothered styling it, tbh).
And (just for the record, not being picky or anything) fringe is only ever singular - like she got a micro fringe, not a set of fringe. I always wondered why bangs was plural actually.

  • Blou lapin

Never DIY a bang! Or as us Brits call it a 'fringe' trust me you need a hair dresser to work out where to start and part your bangs! I made a very micro but huge mistake at this one ill be living out for a while! Boo! I just come back from a undercut grow out also!
Go see a professional scissor hands.

I had the Suri style which worked great for curly hair and were easy to hide and grow out. If I were younger I'd do it again.

I got some in November and love them. Only thing is, you have to stay on top of them, maintenance-wise...

I had a micro fringe once.. a dented one, to be precise. Combined with a mullet.
I should have sued that monster of a hairstylist, took me 4 years to grow it out and I've started cutting my hair at home. Never again shall I have a mullet against my will!

I love microbangs and I actually had them when I was younger. Sadly it just didn't work with my wide and flat asian face. plus, my stubborn asian hair is ruler-straight that my microbangs would just stick out forward.. I was able to "get away with it" because i had pinkish hair and I was young and wild. I definitely encourage younger girls to try microbangs. they try new things and be bold! it's harder to pull of challenging look once you age....
