Anyone else getting serious Glamour magazine ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ déjà vu with the identity-quashing black bars that appear (seemingly at random) in March Vogue Paris? In Mert and Marcus’ “Utopies” spread, the bar sometimes sits like a decorative hair bow on top of Suvi Koponen’s lovely pale head (artfully tousled by Paul Hanlon, alternately styled with a floral crown/an elevated baseball cap à la Bieber/a Saint Laurent-style large-brimmed black hat/some mixture of two of the three). Other times, the bar’s covering her bare chest (an area we would have previously assured you was not of concern to the Vogue Paris reader)...it almost—key word being almost—distracted us from both her abso-fucking-lutely killer bright matte blue-red lip (Charlotte Tilbury! You wizard!), credited as Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Lip Color in Stay Scarlet, though it looks very Ruby Woo—and her perfectly chopped shoulder-grazing blond bob. The mag refers to Suvi in the spread as somewhere “between Hitchcock heroine and muse of painters of the Dutch school,” and we don’t disagree—but can we just say, that’s a film we’d like to watch.
