NY Fashion Week Lip Diary: Day 5

Alessandra Codinha in Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro

Well, friends, we're really in it now—the throes of fashion week—and I'll be frank with you: I've felt better. I've been subsisting pretty entirely on backstage catering for the past few days—I think if you were to cut me open there'd be a whole lot of Baked by Melissa hot-pink cupcakes involved. (Disgusting? Yes. But also true: there was a never-ending supply at Betsey Johnson. Je ne regrette rien.) I'm on a merry-go-round of sugar highs and lows, which, combined with last night's jaunt to the Maker magazine party (I wrote a story for Issue 2 on artist Ryan McGinness), has left me feeling a bit green around the gills. So, I'm taking a cue from yesterday's luxuriously louche, rock 'n roll, 'I used to date one/all of the Rolling Stones' Wes Gordon presentation and wearing one of his crocodile-print silk t-shirts from spring (but wishing it was his gold sequinned pants for next fall), along with Armani Lip Maestro in #503, a warmer, red-er fuschia than Emily's #504 of yesterday, but no less of a punch of color. It's basically a vitamin B shot to the face/soul. Because while I may feel like I haven't slept in forever and have veins full of pink icing, I'll be damned if you can tell by looking at me.

You ladies are really killing it in the lip department this week. I can't resist it any longer, tomorrow I'm putting on a big bright red lip so I can feel like I'm there with you, even if it is all delusion. Seriously gorgeous. In other matters, what, pray tell, is disgusting about hot pink mini cupcakes? :) I'm actually a huge baked by melissa fan, as you can tell here:

    Bite-sized joy. Yum.

NEVER disgusting! I meant the fact that I dined on them, en masse. Big baked by melissa fan. Her creations pretty much kept me alive yesterday. xx

Ah yes, probably not meant to be a meal substitute, right?

After 5 days of being envious, I had a friend buy me the Lip Maestro #400 The Red (they don;t sell Armani cosmetics where I live). She will be back this week, can't wait to try it on!

May I ask where you got your earring? I am thinking of getting a daith piercing and am looking for really pretty, feminine jewelry options. Yours is really stunning!

    • ITGAlessandra

Hi Veronica-- Thanks! I got it from ITG fave J. Colby Smith at New York Adorned! the design is called "lakshmi," i think-- Check out the piercing guide he whipped up for us (http://intothegloss.com/2013/01/guide-to-piercing/) or his website, here: http://www.jcolbysmith.com/. xx

      • Veronica

Thanks so much! Oh to be on the other coast and close enough to get over to New York Adorned in person! I am on my way to their website now.

  • Sarah

I love your piercing! I recently got my rook pierced but if I ever take another one it will definitely be a daith. Where did you get your piercing? It looks like the jewellry J Colby Smith from NY Adorned creates. And loooove your hair color as well (if you could give some info about the color (even if it's still your original haircolor) would be very nice). And that lip color from Armani really gives a pop of color, effortlessly.

    • ITGAlessandra

Hi Sarah-- good eye, it's one of Colby's! As for my hair, it's my natural hair color, which I guess I would say is a dark brown with some warmer natural highlights (also, I recently discovered three different gray hairs, so that's a thing). Emily says that "there's no red in it," if that helps. Thank you!! xx

      • Sarah

Thanks for your reply! Such a shame we can't buy Colby's jewellery or Armani's make-up here in Europe. Guess I really have to go to NY sometime!

  • JenniferMonforton

Gosh, this lip shade is gorgeous! Perhaps my favourite from the Maestro line. I'm a sucker for a warm-toned hot pink and this fits the bill! Looks lovely on you :)

your skin is porcelain perfection! what foundation are you using? or did the DNA gods smile upon you?

  • Madeline

No better way to survive fashion week than great moisturizer and a bold lip. The only thing I need now is one of those cool earrings.
