Lash Alert: Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara

Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara

It’s been a pretty miserable few days in New York with the blizzarding and the hail and sleet-ing and Friday's horizontally flying “wintry mix,” that ever-cute name for a combination snow, sleet, and rain that sounds like a lightly salted selection of nuts, but is, in fact, a collar-penetrating nightmare. Taxis are impossible, anything you're wearing will smell like a wet dog after about five minutes, and forget about wearing anything you like on your feet. One thing less to worry about? Your mascara. Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara is a chicly narrow (space-saving? Hooray!) maroon tube of high-definition, long-wearing, smudge-resistant magic that forms an almost fibrous attachment to each individual eyelash—versus the thick paint-like coats of other formulas, which, when combined with heat or moisture, can get you into racoon/Courtney-Love-at-the-end-of-a-Hole-concert territory. The Kevyn Aucoin version essentially shrink wraps your lashes for a dramatic, lush result that doesn’t clump or clot. The rest of you may look a bit worse for the wear (not kidding about that whole 'wet dog' thing), but this mascara stays all day, no touch-ups required—inclement weather be damned.

I LOVE this mascara. It's my new favorite. I tried it in the fall and then stupidly started using another brand. I'm now back to the curling mascara for good.

the weather sounds miserable. I feel sorry for you guys while I'm living here in Australia and the sun is shining daily with beach weather!

How does it curl? I am fascinated by that name.

This has always been my favourite mascara and I've been wondering when you guys were going to show it in all its glory! I layer it under the volume version (i love the small brush of that one to anchor the product at the base of the lashes). Mlle P - curling formulations work because the polymer shrinks as it dries - pulling the lash backwards and upwards. I generally use curling on clients with fine, hard-to-curl lashes as volume can be a little heavy on a lash that has trouble staying up in the first place. Man i love this mascara.
