The Oscars are great—stars dripping in diamonds and de la Renta, Donna Karan, Rodarte, and Dior—but you know what's really fun? The Grammys and the MTV Video Music Awards. It's kind of anything-goes on those red carpets, which has made for hits (Lauryn Hill in Giorgio Armani [1]; Gwen Stefani's bindi period) and plenty of memorable...miscalculations (‘Dirty’-era X-Tina [5]) over the years. Freak flags fly [7, 14, etc], groupies are on the guest list (we seem to recall Dennis Rodman at a few of these events), and you know what? We're cool with that! So, in anticipation of Sunday night's 55th Annual Grammy Awards show, let's take a look at some of the biggest—for better or worse—moments from music awards past, especially in that '90s and early-2000s sweet spot. While Justin and Britney might never reunite, we'll always have their coordinating denim get-ups [6], and the hope that the two former lovebirds might pass each other on the carpet...
