We would understand if it may occasionally seem as though some of us have sworn our allegiances to one concealer, and that’s it. Alessandra (and countless ITG interviewees) have a certain soft spot for Clé de Peau (though lately the formula seems to be different, and not pleasantly so); Emily is a recent convert to Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, and Nick is never without Dior's SkinFlash Primer. So, fine, we occasionally play favorites, but that doesn’t mean we’re not open to new experiences! And with Kevyn Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer, a new experience was what we got.

Rather than a stick, bullet, brush, or wanded-tube, the densely-pigmented Sensual Skin Enhancer is housed in a little maroon pot and can be used to spot conceal (couple it with a fine-point brush), to highlight (if used in a lighter shade than your skintone), and to replace your current foundation, when mixed with a moisturizer of your choosing. Depending on your selected amounts of moisturizer/product, you are suddenly the creator of your very own sort of DIY “beauty balm cream.” Honey and jojoba oil are two of the Sensual Skin Enhancer’s main ingredients, and the texture is thick and smooth but not tacky. A little goes a very long way, but you can make it as sheer or dense as you want: you can control your own coverage. When applied correctly, we have yet to find a product that is so good at mimicking skin. It's so heavy-duty we could easily use it to hide our tramp stamps (we don't have tramp stamps...or do we?!), which is always a good thing to know about your concealer. Plus, it's exceptionally long-wearing, so if this whole face-washing thing doesn’t work out, guess what we’re reaching for to mask blemishes? It ain’t going to be our Old Reliables. Or anyways, it might be our new “old reliable.”
