Dressing up as the King of Pop (that’d be Michael Jackson, sorry Beliebers) for Halloween doesn’t seem hard these days—though most people’s versions are in pretty poor taste—but we’re challenging ourselves to make it just as chic as Jean Paul Gaultier SS13. We’re thinking Thriller-era Michael, not Blanket Michael, for the record. Anyways! Key costume elements are: the fedora (to tilt forward while you moonwalk), a red leather jacket (we like this one, because it sort of looks like it mated with Ziggy’s whole ensemble), with a slightly chic-er take on his wifebeater (you might get hot), the glove—obvi—some red pants (pleather or otherwise) you can really move in, and little white socks with a classically inspired dancing shoe.

When it came to the girls' beauty, Gaultier had luminosity down pat. We would treat skin with Rodin Olio Lusso before a bit of Lancôme Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF30 Tinted Moisturizer, spot-correcting afterwards with MAC Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer. Line eyes at the waterline and along upper and lower lashline with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Kohl Eyeliner. Then rake Chanel Inimitable Multi-Dimensional Mascara through your top lashes, using Clinique’s Bottom Lash Mascara for the rest. Remember to run some Kérastase Elixir Ultime Rose Millénaire through your hair under that fedora—MJ loved a little grease in his ‘do.
