Earth Tu Face Salt Scrub

Earth Tu Face Salt Scrub

So the word on the street is that summer is officially over—despite the heat occasionally wandering north of 80 degrees a few times last week, which reminded me of a few guys from high school who my friends and I called “broken faucets” (i.e., they can’t decide whether they’re hot or cold). But anyway...things to look forward to: Sweater weather! Layers! Leather! That nip in the night air that gives everyone pink cheeks and bright eyes, versus the sort of dead-eyed, soaking, sultry sheen that comes with August humidity. Let’s look forward to Fall, shall we? But before we start, take a look at your skin.

Even if you’ve been moisturizing obsessively (and you know us, we hope you are), chances are that the shifting climes have made you a little drier than usual. I’m not even talking about your face, I’m talking about your limbs.

My new favorite thing to the rescue! Earth Tu Face Salt Scrub. While I've gone to bat for Fresh's Sugar Scrubs in the past, I have fully converted to the saltier side. Earth Tu Face's comely glass jar holds a scrub made of pure, chunky grains of sea salt mixed with bergamot, lemon, and orange oils. By rubbing small fistfulls of the salt over your body, you're getting the exfoliating effect of rolling around on the beach for an hour (maybe in Sorrento?), stimulating circulation of your lymphatic system (an excuse I often make to justify regular massages, but no matter), and imparting a deeply moisturizing light glaze of essential oils, which remain on your skin post-rinse. You don’t feel greasy, you feel soft, good-smelling, and dare I say, almost edible—I mean,  I’ve rubbed down a chicken with sea salt before coating it in olive oil before. Ina Garten told me to. If only I’d noticed how beautiful its skin was looking! Join me, then, in imitating that chicken. You will never look back.

P.S. I obviously couldn’t not reference this song. Happy Monday!

I prefer anything which shows the short-sari over pants look.

Do they have a store in NY? Or I have too order online?

        • ITGAlessandra

Hi Kae- I found their line at All Good Things in Tribeca (102 Franklin)-- which is a crazy amazing store regardless, but definitely online, too. x

Amazing post!! Not only is it a great tip and something different from all of the Honey scrubs that I saw in the Summer but also a great blast from the past with the TLC reference!

For some reason I totally stopped exfoliating on a regular basis, but with Autumn slowly making its way, it seems like a fantastic idea to start again. And THANK YOU for including this video: TLC No Scrubs is everything.

LUSH also makes a wonderful Ocean Salt Cleanser & Scrub with sea salt, avocado and coconut fat. This makes my dry skin so polished, moisturized and soft for the upcoming winter season! It's a miracle. But don't walk outside into the freezing cold with any salt crystal remnants on your face unless you want to replicate my 2009 face-burn.

"Join me, then, in imitating that chicken."

    Best sentence ever.
