The MTV Video Music Awards have seen a lot of memorable moments over the years: Kanye vs. Taylor Swift (and, then, the world), Madonna, Britney (and then Madonna x Britney), Lady Gaga’s meat dress, Beyoncé’s big announcement,* and so on. However, one press release that just landed in our inbox from MTV (in anticipation of the Thursday night broadcast) was more focused on swag than scandal. As in swag bags. And, gone, it seems, are the days of glamorous African safari vacations and diamond-encrusted trinkets (VH1 Fabulous Life Of, where are you when we need your announcer’s voice?.
