Back in December, I had the privilege of working with photographer Raymond Meier on styling and creative directing a beauty story for Vogue China’s March issue. Variations of “white shirts”—from a girly eyelet collar (Louis Vuitton) to the uniform-esque simplicity of a Gap button down under a sweatshirt—showcased some of spring’s biggest makeup and hair trends. “Boyish” was the season’s buzzword for brows, and makeup artist Gucci Westman paired Josephine Skriver’s powder-and-pencil enhanced arches with “wind-blown” tawny skin and a matte nude lip. In another image, hairstylist Akki tucked Skriver’s blond locks into an elastic Goody headband—topped with white lace Maison Michel bunny ears—to complement heavy black lashes (lots of individual falsies) rimmed with salmon eye shadow. Skriver morphed into a modern-day debutante when she slipped on an ivory Rochas bustier and cat-eye sunglasses, her porcelain, hyper-real complexion setting off multi-color Prada jewels.
My “white shirt” for spring will be shorts: a frayed white pair from Zara, antiqued blue Ksubi cutoffs, and who knows what else…I’m on the hunt. As for beauty, it’s time to PLAY—I’m thinking a homemade haircut and some serious makeup experimentation this weekend. What are you looking forward to wearing as the weather warms up?
