Well well, a welcome trend in launches this January! Thank the collective consciousness (Bobbi Brown, Iris Apfel for MAC, and Le Métier de Beauté) for thinking one thing and one thing only for a winter escape: the brighter the better. Apfel's limited edition Scarlet Ibis, Morange, and Pink Pigeon lipsticks are so thick, and so pigmented, they could have come straight out of your grandma's box clutch in 1966. With all the glossy, light-as-air lipstick reformulations hitting the market, it's kind of refreshing to see such unapologetically retro colors in a matte finish.

That being said, Brown's sheer Citrus lipgloss offers the perfect slick of shine with an almost balm-like feel and a hint of menthol tingle on the lips. The Cosmic Pink variation packs a bit more punch color-wise, but if high-impact is what you're after, reach for the Neon Orange or Neon Pink lipsticks. What to pair with that bold lip? Brown has you covered: comprised of six classic neutral shadows, the corresponding Ultra-Nude Eye Palette is one seriously good compact to own, in general.

If you prefer your shock of color at eye level, opt for turquoise—Apfel's Robin's Egg shadow and Le Métier de Beauté's Aqua Precision liquid liner being my favorites. One steady sweep of the felt-tip pen over your lash line, a coat of black mascara on top and bottom, plus sun-kissed skin and you're good to go. Now, where to go is another story... At the very least, you can—and should—stock up for summer.
