“I'm a firm believer that it starts from the inside out. Eat healthy, take vitamins, drink a ton of water, stay active, and get plenty of sleep. Replenish and restore! To me, that's a million times more meaningful than any cream you slather on your face. I don't buy into the $700 crushed-diamond miracle cream thing. No lotion is going to erase lines or give you perfect skin! It just isn't. I like really simple skincare products. I wash my face with Cetaphil, which is very gentle and doesn't strip or dry your skin. For eye makeup remover, Lancôme Bi-Facil is my favorite, the best. It gets everything off, and it doesn't dry out your skin at all. I've been lining my eyes every day since I was 16 years old, so I consider myself an expert in that arena! For face creams, I love, love, love La Roche Posay. My skin is really sensitive, and with anything else it freaks out. I use the Nutritic at night—it's super hydrating—and the Rosalaic with SPF during the day. And I wear SPF everyday, regardless of whether it's hailing outside. I think protecting your skin from the sun and elements is the best anti-aging fighter out there. I don't have one go-to eye cream. I try different ones, usually whatever what our amazing beauty director Eva generously sends my way. Right now I'm using a Clarins one with SPF for day and a Fresh black tea one at night. And that's it for skincare. I don't get facials or do scrubs or peels. The less I do, the happier my skin seems to be.

I think a healthy, clear base is the most important starting point. The biggest beauty faux pas for me is caked on foundation. You aren't fooling anyone! It's aging and makes you look like a drag queen. So, needless to say, I'm not a big foundation wearer! Although Sara Glick, a makeup artist I've worked with a lot at Teen VOGUE and who I adore, did introduce me to a Bare Escentuals bare minerals foundation that I like. It looks like a loose powder, and it's super light. It kind of disappears into your skin. If I have any redness, I'll use it to tone that down. But my basic everyday makeup is under eye concealer—I like Lancôme's Effacernes for that. Clinique Quickliner For Eyes in Slate—it's a touch softer than black, the perfect shade, and it never smudges. I've tried every liner on the market, and I always come back to this one. Lancôme mascara in black—they make the best mascaras, hands down. Définicils has always been my go-to, but lately I've gotten into the one with the vibrating brush. It sounds gimmicky, but it really works. And then Chanel tweed pink blush. It's a nice soft shade for people who are really pale, like me!

I'm totally boring when it comes to manicures and pedicures. I never do polish on my hands. I just like a clean, short nail. I go to a great manicurist named Carol at Element Beauty Lounge in the East Village, and she doesn't get it at all. Every time I go, she asks me, 'Are you sure you don't want to try a color? Not even clear?' I do like a soft whitish-pink on my toes, though. Essie's Limo-Scene.

Gina at Serge Normant does my highlights, and Ashley Javier cuts my hair. A good cut and color go a long way, and they are both fantastic. I'm one of those people whose hair can really affect their mood. It sounds silly, but it's true. And I do splurge on blowouts. I treat myself to them fairly regularly. But I only wash my hair every 3 or 4 days. I actually like it better after I've slept on it one or two nights. It gets a little more texture and movement, a little less perfect.”
