The not wearing make up approach sounds right for NYC fashion girls. When I lived in New York, a few years back, it was definitely considered chicer not to wear make up. Skin care, hair color and cut were given much more importance. Even those who wore make up wanted a really natural look and to look almost like they weren't wearing any, except for big nights out, etc.

Interesting to note that these ladies, who seem to have a sweet job in the fashion industry, wear little to no makeup. Hmm...
