Oooo ... I feel the same about bronzers, plus I also think they are rather too densely dark for me. I'm South Asian and have a medium dark complexion (which they say is perfect for a bronzer, but each to her own), so I use bwounish blushes like Mac Gingerly & NARS Zen to contour and define. I your description of Douceur and would love to try this to bring in some color. Thank you!

i have the same repulsion for sparkly bronzer, and yet desperately need some as my skin is whiter than white... seing my grandmother use it year after year, I became hooked on guerlain's terracotta. I use the basic lightest shade, but they have some specifically made for brunettes or blondes that i am itching to try. No sparkle in sight and a really natural tan colour.
Blush-wise, Nars is so amazing, I love their 'amour' shade

Laura Mercier's bronzer in Sand Dune is hands-down one of the best!
Completely natural and perfect for contouring and/or an overall tan.
Love this amazing blog!

I highly recommend Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. It is the perfect matte bronzer! This is probably the best and most natural bronzer I have ever used and it does not have any orange tone to it. Try it and love it!

Totally with you about shimmer being a no-no for large areas. When a need a touch of colour I use a great Laura Mercier bronzer that is 100% shimmer free and has a lovely soft matte finish. I also have a great By Terry mineral bronzer that is sans glitter. Both are light and natural in colour enough to use lightly allover the face and then build an ever so slightly darker layer on the cheeks etcs for realistic glow. Le Metier De Beaute have a 'Blonzer' product that I keep meening to try.....but I've a feeling this has a touch of sparkle to it.

i genuinely think nars laguna is the best bronzer. it has gold sparkles in the pan, but they've never shown up on my face. this is just a truly brown bronzer that works well on lighter skin tones, blends beautifully, and is easy to use.

This looks really pretty..I've been looking for a nice blush/bronzer thing. I can't agree with you more on the sparkle note.
